Sandcastles on the First Day of Summer
On my first day of summer,
I found an e-card game,
to make sandcastles to send friends...
Do you like my e-card? I made my sandcastle at www.virtualsandcastle.com.
At first I was daunted thinking I had to make it like a real sandcastle with four edges. But once I got my three dimensional thinking out of the way, it was easy, quick, and fun. You can resize pieces, move them in front and back of each other, and even color the "sand." Then add beach accessories like shells and flags.
Once your sandcastle is done, you get to play with an electronic beach ball as it saves the pieces as a unit. I was surprised. I had as much fun clicking on the beach ball and watching it bounce within the frame of my monitor as I did making the castle.
At the end, you can send your card to friends or make it into wallpaper. And then other people visiting the site will see your creation.
Kids would love to make and decorate their own sandcastles so if your kids are already singing summer boredom blues, give them a change of pace with this electronic beach twist. You never know, it might spark something else creative that will last a few days and get them off the Xbox. (Can you tell what I've been telling the kids not to do so far this summer? Fortunately, swimming lessons start next week.)
