SM's Dentist Visit
As we drove home from the dentist office today, our eight-year old, SM, saw protesters walking along the road. He asked why they carried signs, so I explained how some Americans were fighting in another country for the people who lived there, and that some people in our country didn't agree with it.
He thought for a moment and said, "I saw an American at the dentist's office."
"Yup, there are lots of them there," I replied. "You are an American."
"No I'm not," he protested. "Americans are brown. I'm not brown."
This was after he informed me that to keep his chapped, split lip from splitting more when getting sealants, the dentist had put "gasoline" on it.
