Perils of Parenthood
I had a blog post almost all typed and SM accidentally turned off the entire web browser when I was bandaging IJ after a nasty slide into the hallway door frame. Actually, with my six kids, I'm surprised it doesn't happen more often. (Both the injuries and the computer info loss.)
So what did I do in response to SM's mistake?
I got really mad at SM. I yelled and grrrrrred.
Hey, I was mad. Be honest--you've yelled and grrrrrred too.
But for all my spitting, it couldn't get back my blog post. Choices. Do I rewrite, or forget and move on? Maybe the total and irrevocable presto-disappearo was a blessing I should thank SM for, a blessing in a lesson I was about to miss if I didn't lose the hot head and forgive him.
I hate missing lessons more than I hate losing blog posts or being angry (because I hate having to go through lessons more than necessary), so I chose to forgive and write a new blog post. The old one was about our sick Great Dane puppy, anyway. Who wants to read an entire post about a sick dog? Depressing.
(Quick Sum: Diesel got very ill, went on an emergency visit to the vet late last night, is on three meds, is at the vet's now getting fluid treatment, and appears to be recovering.)
So what do we parents do when our kids come along and undo something we worked hard at? Do we freak and steamroll everyone in our path because it didn't go our way, or do we regroup and move on in peace?
Tough choice, and one I've not always made well. Today, though, I think I did. SM's goof made me realize I needed to refocus my pursuits appropriately (there's the lesson), so off my blog and onto more important things I go. Like wiping a 3 year-old's butt...
EWWWWWWWW.
The perils of parenthood are everywhere...

Sometimes you just have to look for the lesson. I refuse to believe that all the various things we go through as parents are for no other purpose than just turning our brains into tapioca.
yes, Yes, YES! You are blessed to have that insight, babystepper. Not everyone does. It will serve you well if you listen to it and look for those lessons.
I'm so glad you commented. :D
Hi Brandy,
Thanks for visiting my blog. Your story sounded vaguely familiar. I think something like that has happened to someone I know.....(whistling while looking innocent)
Hey myfriendconnie, aka the Smockity Frocks blogger. Glad you stopped by. I loved your blog, and I see by your comment that you have a great sense of humor. You'll be seeing me a lot more. :)
