Going Nowhere
When my husband left for the day, four-year-old NT came into my room. Little brother EJ followed.
"Where are we going?" NT asked.
"Nowhere," I replied hoping both boys wouldn't be too disappointed. They seemed to take it well for they left without a fuss.
A moment later, EJ came back and grabbed my hand. I looked up from putting away clothes. Boots now adorned feet. His eyes widened and cheeks lifted in expectation as he tugged.
"I wanna go Nowhere."
A few weeks ago, EJ decided he again wanted to go Nowhere:
I feel a lot like this sometimes. Especially now, for today marks the beginning of summer vacation. It's the first day all the kids are home for the next two and a half months straight. It used to be no big deal because we homeschooled and everyone was home all the time anyway. But that was before we lived in the trailer.Last year here we still had a vehicle that carried us all so we could escape our confines when needed. Now our diesel Suburban is up for sale away from home, and the Jetta (seats five) and Jim's truck (seats three) are our main modes of transportation.
So, unless Jimmy Neutron comes to my house and clones me, it looks like we'll all be going Nowhere a lot more. Time to install a seatbelt in my computer chair.
