Front Siding & Second Floor Dilemma

And yet more work gets done today. The last of the siding goes up except for a few pieces around the door opening.

To get the top pieces outside, Jim teeters the cut sheet on the wall using the rafter as an anchor.

Jim stands to the right of the plank and prepares to pull it out.

Out it comes.

Up it goes.

And the front is almost complete. The remaining pieces will go up once we get the large pieces inside, like the shower unit, and know what our front door will be.

The next order of business is framing the window openings since the windows are due any day. Jim has already started this evening and will continue tomorrow. The fun part of this window business is that after we ordered them, we realized we had forgotten the first floor bathroom vent came up through the second floor. A quick look at our "final floor plan" revealed it was smack in the middle of the dining area close to the peninsula. Since the vent is cemented into the first floor, that's where it must stay. Then Jim reminded me that we have a chimney going up the right side of the house--where I had placed a window. Not my fault. I thought it was another in-wall thing.

Soooo, back to the "drawing board." I spent the past week redesigning the second floor for the umpteenth time to put the vent in a wall all the way up and move the window. With a set number of windows coming for a design that no longer worked, I had my work cut out for me rearranging windows. Could I do it retaining a balanced appearance on the outside of the house?
