Siding, A Back Roof & Windows

One piece at a time with good, old fashioned man-power.
It takes a lot longer when it’s only one doing it all, but bit by bit, the house is coming together. There are no lazy bones in this man.
A few days ago Jim put shingles on the back side of the roof.
It was a lot faster going with my dad around to help bring shingles up and set them in place. One side down, one left to go.
Today, Jim’s out pricing windows since rain prevented him from working. You wouldn’t believe the huge difference from store to store and company to company. From Andersen windows at Home Depot to Pella windows at a window store there was over $3,000 difference. Egads! It pays to shop around.
We were going to choose grills in between the window panes because some of them cover such a large expanse (five feet and I don’t like living in a true fish bowl), but then we realized we’d have white grills with clear pine finish on the insides. Stupid. We have some choices to make. Either way, we’ve got to figure things out soon or we’ll miss the 25%-off sale this weekend at the local lumber store.
And for doors? They will have to come later.
